Persona Records strikes back with its second fresh release of 2005, provided by label-owner Stewart Walker in top-form. Travel Plaza ep is going to set a new marker in Stewart s production growth, and a new step which will surprise those who know him best for his dark and minimal techno textures over the last 7 years. The vibration is here definitely juicy and spicy though, happy and booty-shaking: while melody continues as the focal point at the centre of Persona's style, the rhythm is smearing the boundaries between techno and funk.
The A side breaks and beats all around gorgeous yet fidgety sounds, but still making sense as Stewart shows us how to be colorful: wait for some (I swear) guitar samples and you’ll know it’s time to finish your drink and join the dance floor. B side comes back with a fatter kick, but so round basses, delayed bells and organs inserts guide the track into a constantly moving, head-nodding groove, pad layers make it sweet and heavenly, so much that makes you wanna sing. Stewart managed to create such involving harmonic landscapes without losing anything of his hi-tech funk, giving us again a really nice record which djs will like to play at home as well.
