about

Persona's 2007 started brightly with Reynold's science fiction crime-story "La Cité d'en Haut," and now we proudly return with Stewart Walker's latest 12" and hasn't it been a while since you heard from him? If you've missed his unique voice in your record box lately, you'll be gratified to hear "Druid Hills" is only the bump and set to the spike of his new album, scheduled for release April 13.

Fernbank 1991 Recorded as part of the production marathons which yielded his forthcoming album "Concentricity," this one's gotta be the hittin'est dancefloor track Stewart has dropped in recent history. Big kicks, big snares, and then at the climax a smear of hihat mosquitoes and echoing synthesizers collide with the windshield of the bass lead. Almost like driving through Florida. And then a round bassline pulls the track into a new direction. Sometimes muscular, sometimes ethereal, but always driving. Density, depth, and power.

"Foreshadowing" Once, on an artificial island near a big city I  went to an indoor amusement park and listened to a ghost story told by an old woman in complete darkness. I remember sitting in the dark, hearing voices whispering in my ear, and then the sound of scissors.   immersive  reverse pianos   If I could have understood the words, the story, perhaps it would have been more mundane.  high pitched organs of medical soap opera . Occasionally flashes of the strobe played light flashes upon closed eyelids. insistent kick When I stepped through exit door, I bought Ice Cream of the Future.™

"Getting Drunk was the Right Thing to Do"  C'mon y'all, Let your inner Dean Martin spill out. We don't mean to advocate egregious consumption to the Youth of Today, but... indefensible, fine. This one sounds like a real mute-unmute track. But there's a soul to be found in Kraftwerkian rigidity. Or maybe in the melody which drizzles like rain on a sunny day. Something about this track exudes innocence. As if intoxicated freedom from the "day brain" awakened innate innocence.
